    Betteridge's Law of Headlines says no. Statins were originally for kids born with a genetic defect causing their liver to produce cholesterol non stop and thus mortality. Turned out to be a very profitable drug [Edit: at the time].

      Currently profitable? Many are old enough to have a generic, and are close to the cost of aspirin at this point.

        Edited to say at the time. Yeah once people get started on these drugs their doctors keeps them on it.
